don't forget that the ancient fruit gets new fruit every7 days when it's fully grown
But what if my profession is not artisian, then? And Sweet gem berry needs to be re-planted after it's harvest?
Doesn't seem that hard to fill the greenhouse. I could convert all the fruits into seeds, expect the gold. Just sell the gold. This way plenty seeds to grow and good amount of money along the way.
The traveling merchant sells rare seeds almost everytime i vist her. Fri and Sun. So 3 seasons x 6. 18 -25 seeds.
Hmmmm..fine... Btw does the quality of the fruit affect the quality of the wine produced? Like if i used gold fruits, will the wine be gold too?
And somewhat same logic with the sedemaker. Will i get extra seeds if i use gold quality fruit?
Actually the important question is will i be benefitted if i sold the ancient fruit's itself and not wine. Comparison wise.
Haven't got that yet. Need to upgrade house. So you keep the wine in the cask?
Only if i get gold.
Let's say you get ten Ancient Seeds before your Greenhouse becomes available...
Obtain Greenhouse, plant ten seeds. 10/116 plants running, 0/116 plants producing.
One season later: collect ten fruit, process, plant twenty seeds. 30/116 growing, 10/116 producing.
One season, one week: 50/116 growing, 10/116 producing.
One season, two weeks: 70/116 growing, 10/116 producing.
One season, three weeks: 90/116 growing, 10/116 producing.
Half a year in, second batch starts producing. You finally have a full Greenhouse, but only 30 of 116 plants are producing. 26 of them won't be ready to produce until 3/4 of a year has passed since you started your little project.
Half a year before you start seeing some small profits, and three whole seasons to get to full production? Yikes.
Ancient Fruit works for a long playthrough. But personally, I'll be growing either Starfruit or a combination of Starfruit and Hops.
So you're saying go for sweet gem berries? Coz they have somewhat the same problem. Not enough seeds to plant.
Oh no, in that scenario I'd still be using the Greenhouse to grow random things for profit. I have to, because the Ancient Fruit itself will take forever to fill the 116 spaces.
I upped the number of Ancient Seeds to ten to prove how slow it really is. Even in that scenario, and even if you're using DSG, it'll still take more than half a year! And yes, I think that having to wait over half a year just to start full production is worth ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about.
I'll stick with Starfruit, thanks. While the guy with Ancient Fruit is collecting his very first, small harvest, and just starting the expansion process... I'll be counting the gold from my first batch of Starfruit Wine and appreciating how my second batch of 116 fruit is already halfway done. Even without DSG.
The fact is, Ancient Fruit is only good for slow playthroughs.
That's right, Sweet Gem Berries are problematic because you can't obtain seeds easily.
The best way is to buy them from the Traveling Cart, which will usually make them cost 1,000g per Seed.
Even the lowest-quality Sweet Gem Berries are worth 3,000g, and because the Seed Maker will only give you an average of two Seeds per Berry, it's like you're paying 1,500g per Berry.
Each Berry is worth 3,000g to 4,500g, but it'll cost you 1,000g to 1,500g for the seed. Factoring that in, each Berry is only worth around 2,000g to 3,000g. And it takes 24 days to grow. And you can't turn it into Wine, which would have been great even if you don't have Artisan because it still would have tripled the crop's value.
The advantage of Sweet Gem Berries, IMO, is that it's super low maintenance. You only need to harvest and re-plant every 24 days, and you don't need to build any Kegs.
You can go with the Berries if you want, just be aware that it's not as lucrative as other crops you could be growing.
