Year 2 Grass and Hay Trouble.
After Year 2, I bought about 100 grass starters, and planted them in a big pile. Should I get hay from it to feed my animals or allow my animals to eat the grass naturally. Also, is there anyway for me to make the grass grow faster?

I would let them graze, being outdoors seems to make their hearts go up faster, just go and cut the other grass, but put the animals behind a fence so they don;t go all over the farm.

Grass that's outside makes the animals happier and allows it to grow, so it's better than Hay in almost every way. The only downside is the space that it occupies.

Besides, if you want Hay, planting 100g Grass Starter and then cutting it for a 50% chance at Hay is insane. That would cost you roughly 200g per Hay when Marnie sells it for 50g.

I say u plant grass grower in spring, then just let it grow and spread out over a few weeks. By near end of spring, 3/4 of my farm land is all grass. Every week or so I cut it while trying to leave a good amt to regrow all while letting my animals eat it.

Depending on how much room you've given the grass to grow and how many animals you have, I'd cut it back occasionally over the rest of the year. Animals are happier eating grass; it makes no sense to cut it immediately.

Don't plant them in a big clump next time, Scatter them out further. In other words: Leave blank spaces for fresh grass to grow in.

Animals prefer fresh grass to graze on.

Instead of cutting down ALL your grass, cut it "badly" leaving behind clumps. That way it will regrow faster.

Doenst matter if they eat "fresh" grass or hay. It doesnt influence the hearts at all. If you like them running around outside: go ahead. If not: it wont influence anything.

hm i used around 4k money for grass starter and now i have 1200 hay in my silos and still much more grass to cut on my farm dont use all grass starter on the same spot here 1 there 1 and there 1 then give it a few days and u could spend a few days just cutting the grass to hay

i have build my barn and coop next to grandpas shrine my fence goes from the next outer wall to the greenhouse if u still dont have it its that destroyed building very small room but my animals like it there is everywhere gras even 10 animals cant eat the grass fast enough

ur wrong about that the animals have a hearth rating and a invisble mood ranking even if u got 5 hearts on animal if the mood sucks u get like more trash egg or trash milk

the longer they stay outside the higher the mood my animals stay outside from 7am till 5:20 pm

and after it in the evening u can read in the animal stat that they are happy happy= better eggs milk rabid feet duck feather and so on

if u let them stay outside over night the mood is minus then u can read animal is angry next morning

Try put a grass starter then put a lighting rod or a single fence post on top of it, this will prevent animal from eating all the grass so it can keep growing without replanting.

Eating grass affects animal happiness, which is not the same as hearts. Happiness affects animal product quality and the likelihood of large versions. Hearts also have an effect.

After almost 400hrs ingame, thousands of animals and savefiles - there was NEVER a significant difference in "outside" animals and inside ones. In lategame they produce tons of iridum stuff though I dont let them outside cause space.

It just makes it happen quicker. My second batch of cows who I left outside all the time got gold and iridium large milks in much less time than my first batch of cows who o left inside. Way faster.
