Steel Sword or Wood Club?

Wood Club does 9-16 damage and Steel Sword does 4-8 damage, but Steel Sword has +2 speed. Which one is better?

or just suffer till floor 90 (use alot of stairs) and get the sword on floor 90.

clubs have an area attack special, so you strike twice with them, which is usually enough to kill things unless you are deeper than the club wants.

in the mines you have alot of enemies that you hit and they go flying away, so more damage is usually more useful than quick small damage. because bats, ghosts...stuff like that. you'd rather smack your damage up front.
