Slime ranching
So, my wife abigail keeps saying she wants to start slime ranching. I dunno, though, is there any reason to do it? Can i get anything special or make a good amount of money from a slime hutch? Otherwise i might just not do it.

Slime farming is weird.

You have to use the Slime Eggs to produce Slimes. Male and female Slimes can breed to produce more Slimes.

If you give them water, Slimes produce Slime Balls. Slime Balls explode into a lot of Slime (the monster drop) when you pick them up. You can use the Slime in a Slime Egg-Press to make more Slime Eggs. If you kill Slimes they'll sometimes drop Slime Eggs too, though it's rare.

Slime Eggs can be used to hatch more Slimes, or they can be sold. They're quite valuable, the cheapest and most ones (Green, 60%) selling for 1,000g each and the others selling for 1,750g for the second most common to 5,000g for the rarest.

I suppose it can be profitable, but it's a bit of a pain, especially if you don't have the Slime Charmer Ring.

Note that without the Slime Charmer Ring, the slimes WILL attack you when you go into the hutch. It can get real painful real quick if you're not careful. If I may offer some pointers from what I learned the first time I tried slime farming:

The hutch starts with just an egg press (put in slimes, get out slime egg some time later) and an incubator (put in slime egg, it hatches some time later) and the watering pails at the side. But you can build inside! This is how I set up my hutch in my first game:

This lets me access the watering spots safely. But it's important that you go in every day (okay, it's not a big deal if you miss a day, it just means they won't produce that day) to refill the water, or you won't get slime balls from them.

Once you get one male (antenna) slime and one female (no antenna), they should breed, so you shouldn't have to keep hatching eggs if you're patient. Give them time to reproduce (if you want to give yourself a head-start, hetch a few eggs instead of just two - it's not too dangerous when there's only a couple) and make a bunch of slime balls before you try to harvest. This could take some time in-game, like possibly a couple weeks or longer in game-time.

Once there's a bunch of slime-balls, go on in. Harvest the slime balls (I think you have to click on them?). If there's enough, you can just kill all the slimes that are annoying you at this point and hatch all new ones. Or you can try to spare them.

Sorry that turned into kind of a long explanation. And I still probably left out half of what I was gonna say. It's early for me... hahah.

Have you been leaving water for them? They don't create the slime balls unless they have water.
