It shouldn't matter where you got the ore. If he hasn't shown up, collect some more ore I guess and hope he shows up the next day.
You have to go to the mine and mine ore before it will trip Clint coming to your house the next day. Hope this helps.
That might be the problem. The mines are in the mountain lake area. Go past Robin's house, then north, and across the bridge and into the cave. The bridge is blocked for the first few days of the game. You'll get a letter in the mail when Joja Mart fixes it.
I think I've triggered Clint's cutscene by digging up copper from the "worms" (dig spots), but I don't recall exactly.
I'm posting in it now because someone might do the same and end up with unclear or misleading information in previous posts.
First, the wikis:
I can confirm that the official wiki is wrong: obtaining a Copper Ore is not sufficient.
I can confirm that the bad wiki is wrong: going to the Mines is not sufficient.
I can confirm that obtaining Copper Ore from Fishing will not meet the requirements.
I can confirm that obtaining Copper Ore from a Geode will not meet the requirements.
I can confirm that dropping and grabbing Copper Ore (or taking it one by one from a chest) is not sufficient to meet the requirements.
Next test is to drop Copper Ore in the Mines and grab it again to see if it counts as "ore obtained in the mines".
If it doesn't, looks like absolutely it has to be mined out from the Mines.
Alternatively, it's possible that finding Copper Ore in a worm tile might meet the requirements, but I can't reliably test for that.
Hopefully a future player will find this thread when searching for the information and I will have spared them all those tests.
You must have, because copper ore from fishing and geodes most definitely don't work.
Indeed, the number of worm tiles should have absolutely no effect on the requirements for Clint to show up with the blueprints.
Interesting bit of information. I guess there's something about picking up Copper Ore that was in an object that makes it act differently than getting it from a loot window (be it fishing, geode or chest). Programmers are strange, strange people.
I wanted to do a "no Mining" run, but if I have to wait on a worm tile that has Copper Ore just to get the Furnace Blueprints... that just won't do. Too long, too RNG-dependent. I'll just go grab a single Copper Ore from the Mines and destroy it the next day.
Thanks for the info.
