You can buy it from the carpenter, which you can find easily on the map(obove your farm)

Silo is from the same place you got the coop built, so just visit Robin again at the Carpenter's. It takes a couple of days to be built but then you can cut the tall grass, if you have any left on your farm, and it will give you x amount of hay. It's not exact, it's sort of awarded randomly as you're scything through the grass that I can tell (someone else correct me if I'm wrong).

If you made a mistake, and already scythed down all the long grass on your farm, you'll have to plant some seeds to regrow it before you can start harvesting for hay.

In the meantime, you can also buy hay / feed from Marnie at the Ranch Shop so your chicken doesn't starve to death while you get everything built / sorted out. :)

how do i feed my chicen the hay without the silo?

You place the hay on the feeding bench inside the coop. You have to do that even with the silo until you upgrade the coop to the deluxe version which has auto feeding.

You can also let your chickens outside so they can eat grass. They are happier eating grass anyways. Of course, hay is your only option in winter and on rainy days.

its recommended to build a silo or two first before you get any animals and even then animals are more of a first fall to second spring sort of thing anyway

There are arrows on the bottom of the coop picture. Click those arrows to cycle through the other buildings that you can ask Robin to make for you.
