I find it funny that he's always saying stuff like "Don't forget to wear sunscreen" or "Your body could be put under quite a lot of stress in these cold conditions. Please wear a jacket, and by the way, enjot the festival!" instead of a simple "Hey, what's up?" like most of the other characters.
Until I met Penny, since she's the only one I can feel like she's a normal real person. Even though most people would say she's the most boring one.
After that it was an obvious choice. :)
I really wish there was a event where you convince Harvey to shave his mustache. He's not really old, but that stache ages him and makes him look pervy. The SDV wiki has pictures of him before the stache was added. Why couldn't he have stayed like that!? Actually, a lot of the old character protraits look better than what we have now...
All of the people I wanted to marry when I first started playing, turned out to be married already. I settled for Sam, since he annoyed me the least of the the boys. He became super annoying after marriage.
Elliot and Alex seem the lesser annoying characters. I like Sam but nothing really stood out for me. I feel like the one flaw SDV has is the Bachelors and Bachelorettes aren't very desirable to me. I never looked at a character in the game and said "I want to marry him/her!" I know there are benefits to having a spouse but i just don't really care for my choices. It would be nice if CB creates more characters in a update. Maybe not like an overhaul but maybe one for each gender. Kind of like how Harvest moon had certain years where marriage candidates would show up to town.
Sebastian and Abigail's emo thing wouldn't be as painful if it was a bit more warranted. Sam, Shane, Penny, and Alex easily have it a lot rougher in terms of their family and life. (maybe Harvey to with his shattered dreams) Shane drowns in self hatred, but Sebastian and Abigail sure do seem to lash out and act out more than any of the others for having a bit more stable lives. I see he has a lot of "taking out anger" post marriage dialectm kind of creepy.
I found some of Sebastian's dialogue in regards to his life to be really self forced. Seeing as he talks poorly on both his friends and family at times when not needed at all. Meanwhile Sam and Abigail are there for him. Robin is nice and loves him. And his stressed relations with Maru seem to be all Sebastian's outlook. She isn't too blame for her father's actions. Part of me likes that the player makes him happy, but the above stuff bugs me greatly on him. Though I know this is a very unpopular opinion as many people love and pity the guy like he suffered some great tragedy.
Abigail feels more like all talk, no actual action. I'm going to be a tough adventurer! Nope, nvm I got scared. I like her, but I feel even Haley kind of comes off tougher than her.
I feel Sam got the shortest stick in terms of character development and post marriage dialect. He basically gives up his life and stays at the farm proudly saying he will be lazy. Why is this even a thing? Why do you help most of the cast improve their lives, but you basically strip Sam of his?
I feel Alex and Elliott may be the best guys. Alex for character development and putting effort into his life. And Elliott for being one of the very few older males that don't treat you poorly at first.
Alex is too much the typical "dumb jock" type. His family situation is sad, but that doesn't help him be less dumb :P Elliot has the same issue as Harvey; Not digging the looks. Yes, it's shallow, but they booth kinda skeeve me out. Original Elliot character portraits are soooo much better. I'd marry old elliot in a heartbeat. Looks aside, Sam is a very immature mama's boy.
Personality wise, Elliot and Harvey are the best choices amongst the boy-folks.
