Marriage!?
Who is the best guy to marry in the game? I was gonna go with Sebastian, but are there any perks to the other characters?

Other than them taking their rooms to your house, not really, they all cook, water plants or fix fences from time to time + new dialogue. Just pick your favorite :3.

As for as helping you out with the farm, all the marriage candidates will occasionally water crops, feed the animals, or fix the fences. I married Sam in my first game. That was before the marriageable villagers got personalities in one of the patches. I don't recall any specific "perks" from him.

In my second game over the past few months I married Alex. He cooked breakfast every once in a while. I think Sam did that too. I don't know if every spouse does but I think they all occasionally gift you.

The spouses are basically interchangeable as far as gameplay benefits. Go with whoever you like.

Linus is the best and only man to marry.

I don't care the game won't let you marry him he is still the best. :P

Marry each one. You can divorce after all. None of your choices matter, you can even remarry after trying them all and going back to who you ended up liking the most.

Sebastian occasionally gives you monster drops(bat wings) or low level gems(frozen tear) from the mine, or coffee, but never what I would call "breakfast".
He also gives you beer at the end of the year, but Leah gives you wine instead.

The differences are so minimal they can be ignored.

I have been married to Harvey and Shane. Harvey stays mostly on his regular schedule and is very much a devoted husband and father. The meanest thing he has said was that I needed to clean the house after his hearts dropped back to 9. He even mentions that the farm would be a good place to raise a family even before I had upgraded the house to include the room with crib. We had two children within a years cycle very shortly after upgrading the house. Keeping their hearts up and going to bed before them seems to do the trick.
I was worried about Shane, he was a challenge. But he has also has been devoted and only got jeoulous during the first month or so. He doesn't go out as much as he side of the room is kinda messy but he is much happier so all is good. Haven't had children with him yet as I haven't upgraded my house and I'm not sure I want to allow it.

I like Shane. He is pretty nice and loveable once you befriend him. Also Emily is a really nice person (and I don't care that she believes in gem power and stuff like that).

But if I could I would marry Dwarf.

I am male but what annoys me is that you can't have affairs in this game, I mean, that would add loads of diffrent marriable ppl and would make the game much more fun, maybe a mod or something

Is there any downside to staying single?

Well for one you won't be married to the character that interest you enough to want to marry them plus, no kids to turn into birds, and no partner who might occasionally water the plants or feed the animals.

If the above doesn't interest you then no downsides.
