Best way to get lots of coal?
I never seem to have enough coal. Obviously, I find a bit in the underground, but the main source (those minecarts you click on) don't seem to replenish their supplies. I get a fair amount, but not enough to smelt all the bars I want to. Any way to easily get lots?

i think around level 50 of the mine, those "dust sprites" are mostly common wich drop coal.

those bouncing "dust sprites" on level 35-60(?) drop coal. the ice levels.

Kill the dust sprites. they spawn quite a lot of coal. Breaking rocks on the mines also helps. Try to invest on a better pickaxe.

Also, if you haven't, check the minecarts. They mostly have coal in them.

Dust sprites with later the burgler ring.

Also void and brutes and red slimes drop some coal in good amounts.

Go, get some solar and void essences, some gold ores, prepare big bombs and roam around floors 65 to 90 on the mines, and you're ready.

I farm the dust sprites and wear the burglar ring once I get it. Also there's a mining profession that increases the chance to get coal from rocks (slightly). I think the wiki says daily luck plays a factor, but I could be wrong about that. Eventually though I end up buying a lot from Clint.

Once you get the recycling machine (earned through fishing) you can pass garbage through it and get useful things. Coal is one of those possibilities. It also gives you refined Quartz without using coal in the Furnace.

There's a machine you get for ... some manner of skill I forget that lets you turn wood into coal too. It's either farming or foraging I think... can't remember.

The charcoal kiln is what allows you to make coal from wood -- though not a great conversion ratio. My personal preference for farming coal is the dust sprites + burglars ring, or simply buying it from Clint when money is no longer an issue.

Hell no get it and buy 10 wood from Robin then convert it's 50G cheaper than buying it directly from Clint, which does wonders in the Middle game.

You'll get it in the mines.

Charcoal Kiln is the way to go if you're far enough in the game. If you buy from Robin, you can get 1 coal for 100 G, or 100 coal for 10,000 G, which really isn't bad once you're a few years in. If you don't have that kind of money, dust sprites in the ice caves are the way to go. Buying from Clint is definitely the fastest, but it's 50 G more per coal.
