No Skill Gain For Farming?
I was at 2.2 skill level for Farming, 1st Summer, 21st day ... I then harvested 121 Blueberries with the Scythe and shipped them. No skill change. I slept in-game for 3 days. Still no skill change. This was the 3rd harvest of the season and I just now noticed my skill bar not moving. The game isn't modded at all. No save edits or anything. My wife's game is also doing weird things with farming, but I haven't been watching close enough to know specifics. Only that she's at the end of 2nd year and her farming isn't even at 6.

What is this? Is there some built in cap where you can't go past a certain level too early? My fishing was at 10 before the 1st Spring was out in another game, so it can't be that. The wiki says that EXP is granted from harvesting (not shipping) when you sleep/save that night.

Is anyone else seeing this?

What do you mean 2.2 farming? Farming only has 10 levels, there's no 2.2?
And what do you mean harvesting with the scythe? You only use the scythe for wheat, amaranth and kale?

I didn't know you could harvest blueberries with a scythe, but according to the wiki harvesting crops with the scythe is bugged and won't give any farming exp

also how do you know your farming skill is 2.2? doesn't it only show 2?

Like I said, my game isn't modded. The Scythe tears through the Blueberries 6+ at a time.

By "2.2", I mean Farming Level 2, with 2 out of 10 bubbles towards Level 3. Like it shows on the skills page of the main menu. Edit: I just noticed a really stupid error on my part. Disregard the whole level thing. Regardless, that amount of Blueberries should have been worth a jump to level 3.

As far the Scythe bug, it only affects Kale. Or so the Wiki says.

I wish I had been watching earlier to know where I got the 1st two levels from. I am wondering if there isn't a cap-per-crop. Because I always keep 20 of each crop on hand, and those ~10 different kinds from Spring and Summer (before I started the Blueberry fields) may have been worth experience, but having so many Blueberries made it reach a cap. I'm not sure. I am looking for other people's experiences.

The scythe bug definitely affects wheat as well... I didn't even know you could harvest blueberries or other crops with the scythe at all. Huh. Does it work for single growths, like melons? Or just regrowers?

And the "bubbles" on the skill page are the skills itself. 5 bubbles = level 5, not 3.5 or whatever. Sadly, there's no in-game way to track your XP, or progress towards leveling up.

Was it your first harvest of the blueberries, or a repeat harvest? Maybe only the first harvest gives XP, but I think it's more likely that it's the scythe.

If that's true, and the Wiki isn't up to date, then that very well could be the problem.

what the wiki says is *does not grant exp due to a bug with scythe harvesting and that asterick appears next to all crops that can only be harvested with a scythe.

I didn't know you could harvest blueberries with a scythe, but if that's the case then that's the reason. harvesting with a scythe doesn't grant exp, there's no cap or anything so just make sure to pick them.
Just wanted to mention that I found out why the Scythe worked on Blueberries. My wife had used a mod on this computer that was active when I planted the fields, but she removed it.

The interesting bit is that even though the mod wasn't installed, the crops were *impossible* to harvest without the Scythe. It literally pops up a message saying that a Scythe is required if you try to pull it by hand.

I planted a fresh row of crops next to the old ones, and harvested them by hand while the old ones were still giving me the message that they required a scythe.

That means this information - what it required to harvest a plant - is stored in the save file for every single individual crop instead of being set as a global constant in the game files. That's an odd thing to do, really.

it'd be impossible for him to program each individual crop like that since it's all technically the same thing, just a higher quanitity. I imagine uninstalling the mod just created some error and it didn't know how to read the previous crops properly. hopefully it fixed your problem though
