Strange Cutscene

So...I'm going for Harvey as a spouse.
I have 7 hearts with him, 5 with Demetrius, 3 with Robin and 2 with Maru.
I just walked into Robin, Demetrius and Maru's house to move some farm buildings and I got a bizarre cutscene where Demetrius and Maru were testing some soil. Maru asked me to watch her beaker while she went off to get the last sample. While she was out of the room, Demetrius started explaining to me that Maru is his special little girl and he would "hate to see her chances at a bright future be destroyed".........then Maru came back and he said "oh we were just talking about the soil samples, right?" It gave me the option to (say nothing) or say "Actually, your dad was being weird..."
I chose to say nothing. The cutscene then ended.
I'm thinking Demetrius is referring to me "stealing" Harvey from Maru? Has anyone else seen this? What do you think?

That's Maru's two heart event... it's completely unrelated to Harvey.

This is Maru's two heart cutscene. It happens the same no matter who you are wooing; basically Demetrius doesn't want anyone interferring in his daughters "bright" future, and is referring to you. If you continue with Maru and her family, you will see more to this story.

I had a weird cut scene like that with Emily after I got 2 hearts with her. Funny thing is, I wasn't even trying to woo her, I was just giving her a gift from Clint, it was a quest.

I had that one too! I felt bad for Clint because Emily didn't seem interested at all in the fact that it was supposed to be from him, and she gave me a smooch! Haha!

That's unrelated to anything going on with Harvey.

If you haven't spoken to Demetrius that day and you talk to him AFTER that little interchange he'll say something to the effect of "Maybe I was out of line earlier, sorry about that."

Basically, anytime you're interacting with the "singles" the events you get assume that there's some romantic interest on your part. It would be nice if the interactions were more nuanced and allowed for "romatic" and "platonic" alternatives (controlled by whether or not you'd given the person in question a boquet), but ... they don't and the default is somewhat "romantic" even if you have no intention of persuing a romance with that character.

Lol i didn't feel bad for Clint because at that point I was like 90% sure I was going to marry Emily.

Thanks Nakos, that's very interesting. I appreciate your input. I agree that there should be some way to distinguish platonic vs romantic interactions based on who you've given the bouquet to!

Last I checked, this wasn't a harem game, but Demetrius seems worried it is. XD

alright, kinda late to this discussion (and by kinda late i mean really late) but i was looking this scene up and found this. it just happened to me as well, but the crazy thing is, i'm quite literally married to sebastian and have maxed out hearts with him. i thought it would be obvious by now that i'm not trying to woo maru, but now i'm interested in becoming really close friends with her to try and delve deeper into this. idk how i feel about demetrius. he always babies maru and has been an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to sebastian, who literally is just along for the ride.
