Purple slimes question

So I finally got a purple slime egg, and I am gonna hatch it. My question is, if I weed out the slime population to only purples, will the "pods" they drop with slime in them (once i use in a slime press) will they produce purple eggs? What is the best meathod to control the colors I get? Or will purple eggs always be a rare drop no matter what?
And if that is the case, is there any reason to have only purple slimes?

Purple slimes drop iridium, and they'll breed with each other to create more purple slimes (or breed with other colors, and create hybrids). The slime press creates random slime eggs.

I see. I don't need iridium anymore. I have the purple statue and that keeps the bars coming in. I guess I was just hoping to be able to make a decent amount of money off slimes, but if you can't affect the rate of purple eggs I may be wasting my time with slimes. I should probably check that there isn't any rare random drop that I'd need from them to complete the museum though.
