ancient fruit

imho, Ancient is *easier* - not best profit. Starfruit imho, followed closely by Ancient fruit and both only by virtue of value added (ie: cellar wine).

For instacash, and lots of it, sweet gem. You cannot deduct the cost of turning sweet gem into perpetual seed (as some claim) because there is no cost. If 1 fruit is turned into 2 seeds it's double the potential profit, not half.

Are you saying time isn't a resource? The time spent growing the gem that was then converted back into seeds shouldn't be factored into the equation?

i took time to count the profit, even using casks: for 56 days in cask(Iridium star) (max 189 casks):
ancient fruit: 1584000 in keg + 623700 in cask = 2207700
starfruit :1163077 in keg + 850500 in cask = 2013577
so ancient fruit better in profit and convenient (better profit until u can buy house upgrade and fill all casks and no need to go buy seeds, no replant)

Sweet Gem Berries can't go into jars or kegs.

If you want to ignore the finite usage of greenhouse and cellar. Sure.

I compared the value adding (VA) aspect here - not base fruit selling. The 56 day cellar bedding - the highest VA resource you have - needs to be optimised. Iridium starfruit wine returns vastly superior numbers ($6300 per bottlle versus $4620 - artisan).

Doesn't matter how easy or how much AF you can grow because your cellar is limited. The OP asked for best use of *greenhouse*. Since Ancient Fruit (AF) can be grown outside for 3 seasons (I do it myself with 3 x Junimo Huts) it's not optimal use growing them in the greenhouse too.

By not using the greenhouse on something I can do already - I can continously cellar my SF while the AF - which is sold directly offplant - is done outside where it belongs.

If people want to take the *simplest* fruit - devoid of value adding (income per tile) - then AF wins easily. For maximising your finite equipment ie: the continuous supply of off season fruit to cellar - SF storms home.

tl;dr You can sell AF for 3 seasons *without* the greenhouse. If you cellar AF, silly you.

Sweet Gem is what I call an "incidental" cash crop. If you get a seed, double it in some corner of your farm/greenhouse and continue to do so. Have 1 or 2 Junimo Farms ready one summer when you want to go mining/fishing or something and plant the lot with a good fert'.

(Buying Rare Seed is even better if you can. At least triple ROI).

It takes 1 full season to grow the ancient fruit plant from seed and it dies in the winter. So you only have 2 seasons of selling versus all 4 in the green house.

Correct, except I can *also* grow SF for 4 seasons WHILE I grow AF outside for 3. As soon as you cellar SF continously you're optimising your equipment for maximum profit and the best way to supply SF continuously is using the greenhouse. AF doesn't need the greenhouse to supply.

(Sure, I suppose I could grow enough SF outside ultimately but with only 2 harvests per year + return seed the space required would be very high and reduce profit elsewhere. Being able to get enough in fast enough for 2 harvests + seed is a pressure point too.)

I cannot argue base fruit price, that's why I'm not.

(Another small aside is the fact that rotating SF crops in the greenhouse gives me the opportunity to grow anything *else* I may need in every 13 day cycle ie: flowers/veg for quests etc. With AF, I'd have to rip plants out and replant with it's 28 day restart).

our players forget about in time when we use casks, the plants still product fruits and cant put them in to cask cuz they r full. that make why ancient fruit is better option
