Fastest crop to grow?
I'm trying to get the ancient seed, and I'm not in the mood for digging it up. I do look at the traveling merchant as well, yet so far, I haven't seen her sell it. I want to find out the crop that grows the fastest, so I can put them into seed machines. It doesn't matter about the season, as I'm almost into winter, and I'm going to use the greenhouse.

Mmm... I'd probably say Blueberries.

Blueberries take a while to mature, but then produce fruit every four days. The key thing here is that each plant produces three fruit, so you get a lot of product to run through a Seed Maker.

Coffee produced beans every two days, but I'm not sure if those work in the Seed Maker or not.

You can also get the ancient seed from fishing chests

Well, i'd guess ur in fall so grapes would be good for the edgesd and cranberries on the inside. I made 3k every 3 days off only 30 grapes in fall

Wheat and Parsnips both grow in just four days, but for pounding things out through the seedmaker you'll want a permanent plant with multiple harvests. Berries fit the bill pretty well, since each plant gives you multiple berries- which means more chances in the seed maker.

My personal recommendation, though? Hops in your greenhouse. Ten days (eight if you use deluxe speed grow) then you can harvest them every day and chuck them in the seedmaker to grind out the ancient seeds.

I have to agree on Hops, takes a while to grow, but once it starts producing, it'll constantly be ready everyday as long as you watered it the previous night. You also get a pretty good return on hops when you stick them in as many kegs as you can fit on your farm to turn the into pale ale. just keep in mind its a trellis type plant so you'll have to plan how you will plant them for best results.

Something like this, but maybe not quite as extreme, but you kind of get the idea from the screenshot.

I got my Ancient Seed from worms on the ground, I believe it was the 3rd day of my first ever Winter.

I'm new to the game so I'm not sure how good these things are compared to the other stuff, especially when you factor in the greenhouse (which I haven't quite unlocked yet).

Oh, yeah, Hops ... didn't think of those. Yeah, Hops are an even better suggestion than Blueberries.

Oh, I forgot to mention I didn't fill all that with Hops for summer, but it was basically 20 tiles long, with I think it was 8 or 9 "columns" of Hops plants. Now that the season's been over I'm still barely making a dent in my 1k+ NQ hops (might have 2k+), nearly 1k+ silver quality hops, and like 600+ gold star hops.

i'm going to make a few shed or something and fill it up with kegs and a few chests to store the hops so they cna just start working on converting things to a fortune.

I apologize for straying away from the original topic with this thread but I wanted to reply to this

There are a ridiculous number of places on the worldmap where you can safely keep kegs without them being bothered or cluttering your farm, if you don't have or can't build enough sheds to house them. The quarry, the road/tunnel, most of Cindersnap Forest is untreaded, the mountain tile with the Spa, in the Sewers, the dirt shores of the river north of Joja Mart- room enough for thousands of kegs or beehives or what have you.

Whaa... I can put kegs outside of my farm?!? I didn't think of that! well, now that I think about it for a moment, I could place crabpots , chests, recyclers and worm bins anywhere...

Don't mind me then... I got locked into those farm sim mods of thinking for some reason. Sims, Sims2, Harvest Moon (SNES one), etc... forgot to think outside the farm / home plot.

I'll have to rethink where to put some massive amounts of kegs with chests aroudn to hold my soon to be hops warehouse surplus next season.

I just got an ancient fruit, thanks! It was kind of useless to me, as I had already realized the starfruit wine sells for a ton. Thanks for the help!

Enh... Starfruit wine does indeed sell for quite a bit, but Starfruit is a single use crop that takes 13 days to grow and has a cost of 400 per seed.

Ancient Fruit wine isn't worth quite as much as Star Fruit wine, but it's a continually reproducing crop that gives you a harvest every 7 days, and doesn't require replanting (or repurchasing seeds). Ultimately, Ancient Fruit wine is worth more.

How has noone said Wheat?

It costs 10 gold and takes 2 days to be ready for harvest.
Nakos Jul 6, 2017 @ 7:01am
Wheat is 4 days, not two.
