Three Apples!!!
Allow me to explain: I only have one more quest for the Community Center and all I need are three apples. I'm in my third year of the game and I thought I had planted my apple tree just in time for it to produce apples in the following fall, but I didn't know that grass would hinder it's growing process until it was too late. In short, I need to wait another year for apples. BUT I do have the fruit bat cave, which supplied me two apples, and the traveling cart got me another one. Good, right? No! One of the cave apples has a silver star and apparently doesn't count, which I think is ridiculous! I'm kinda miffed because of all the waiting I need to do. It's so frustrating! I HAVE THREE APPLES, DAMMIT!

My question is: am I missing something? Can I use the silver apple with my two normal ones and I'm just not doing it properly? Please, I just need information! ;;;

I think your problem is that apples of different quality do not stack.

Three plain apples would be fine. Three silver star apples would be fine.

Two of one, and one of the other isn't because they don't stack.

Unfortunatly, the Bundle interface DOES recognize quality (because of the quality crop bundle), so I'm not sure if you can work around it.

You can plant Fruit Trees in the Greenhouse, so ... you don't have to wait an ENTIRE year, but you will probably have to wait at least one more season: http://stardewvalleywiki.com/File:Optimalgreenhousefinal.png

You could have planted the apple tree inside the green house.

Yeah, I figured that was it. But I was hoping it would work anyway because for Mr. Qi's quest of putting beets in the mayor's fridge they all didn't have to be of the same quality.

I didn't have a green house at the time of planting the tree, and now my green house has ancient fruit growing in it and I'd rather not ruin those plants. I'll just be patient and wait for the cart to stop by or the bat cave to give me another apple (or more).

You WON'T lost any land/soil in the green house for Fruit trees, you can plan them like in this image.
