Report a translation problem
Well it's somewhat obvious when you think about it. The current saves do not save the exact state of any NPC, so at the very least that would have to be added in order to reload a save from mid-day and have all the NPCs (including animals) start in the same locations with the same AI processes and animations.
When you only save while sleeping, the NPCs have defined initial states at the start of the next day and so you don't need to save any of that.
My only problem with being able to save only at the end of the day is it's hard to stop playing, since as soon as the next day starts I feel compelled to jump right into the daily routine...
Very cringey, please stop speculating on what constitutes a game "engine."

Of course I shouldn't expect any better from a forum full of people that will ardently defend an arbitrary gameplay decision that causes backtracking when the game inevitably crashes.
