Multiplayer for this game.
So I am hearing that the game gonna have multiplayer. I bought the game on GOG, and i wonder does the server that we're playing in multiplayer mode are gonna be on the same platform. For example PC with PC only or it shares with console.
and do Steam players and GOG players are seperated ?

It's going to be local, IIRC.

So that mean GOG players and Steam players can play together. i wonder the term "local" is it somekind of connection to nearby players that in the same country/city like hamachi ?
Btw thank you for your answer

Local as in the nearby area, not sure if country or city, though.

I doubt it'll be local multiplayer only, since the term specifically means all players are in the same room, using the same computer/console and screen.

As for online multiplayer, I doubt it'll have cross-platform multiplayer (console-PC multiplayer, especially since the first console getting SDV is the Switch). And whether GOG and Steam folks can play together will depend upon how Chucklefish handles things. There's also no indication as to whether it will have local multiplayer or not.

That's LAN, the definition of local is more broad.

No. But it's difficult to imagine this game to have online MP, this is more of something you play with friends, not unfamiliars.

No, the definition of local is less broad. Local means same computer, LAN means same network, and most multiplayer is online. I am fairly confident this will have online multiplayer.

Does that mean it would have to be people in your immediate area, or people on steam at least?
Krystal's definition of local multiplayer in the first place is wrong. If multiplayer allows you to connect outside of the home network, you can connect with anyone who is also connected to the internet (ping may be terrible, but that's a fundamental internet issue). It may be limited to people on steam simply for ease of inviting them to a game, though.

I guess my definition of it is different then, oh well.

Erm, the Switch wasn't the first console to get SDV. Playstation and Xbox has it currently.

I think he meant that Switch will be the first to get MP in terms of consoles.

Ah okay. It didn't seem like that when I read it. Though, who knows if that'll be the case.

It will be, this was announced. It caused a bit of confusion as to the multiplayer platform launch order, but it will be PC, then Switch, and finally the other two.

There has been talks of MP for this game for ages... it'll probably never happen, which is a shame, because I'll only be buying this game if it ever gets co-op, but changes are that another game like Stardew will probably be released before that happens, and then there will be no reason to buy this anyway...

That's definitely not the case, stop being a pessimist.

And this is the real shame.
Also, there's a MP mod, you could try that.

There are plenty of other games like SDV out there, but they're not getting MP.

Also, your reasoning is silly. Just because there are other games like SDV doesn't mean they're the same.

If you're getting this game only for co-op, that's your choice, but i think you'll find co-op and singleplayer are likely going to be similar, don;t quote me on that
