you have to build a stable, if i remember correctly it was something like 5 refined quartz, 150 hardwood, and a bit of cash

and automaticaly get the horse

Buy a stable from robin (carpenter shop) and you get the horse, too. It cost 10000G.

It's pretty hard to get a horse by Summer of the first year unless you're using the Forest Farm. This farm comes with a number of hardwood stumps which reappear the next morning after you've chopped them with an iron axe.

Otherwise, you need a gold axe to reach the Secret Forest to get hardwood.

by the way, get the CJB item spawner mod and give yourself legends and treasure chests. those are good items to sell. do this ONLY if you want cash easy. and this also works for the refined quartz and wood!
