Best place for coal?
I am always short on coal, and also on wood because I'm burning it in charcoal kilns for coal...
Is there a good way to get lots of coal?

I feel your pain. I've also run out of trees to cut down!

I go to lv 40 in mines. Dust sprites often drop coal. Mine carts and bags on almost every run.

Also harvesting trees outside the farm and planting them on the farm if yah dont already.

But those mine carts and bags, they seem to be only one-time use. Whenever I encounter them again, they have already been used, do not drop any coal...

Just run through like 50-60 in the mines over and over again, there's lots of dust sprites to get coal from.

as someone who has 453 beehives on his farm, I feel your pain. grinding dust sprites is the way to go. once you have 500 killed it gets considerably easier. make sure to have the Burglar Ring permanently equipped. once you can afford it, buy it. it's not worth the hassle and time when you've got the money.
with that ring, even red slimes and shadow people drop coal. if you're into the skull cavern; bombing down with good luck and that ring yields comparable amounts of coal to a day of grinding dust sprites (70-80)

IDK I just remember getting mine carts and bags in the hunt for dust sprites<-- where I get most coal. I thought the levels with mine carts were just random chance. The few runs to get enough early then you just buy from Clint when you have money. So yeh the blacksmith is the best spot.

Ore you can buy some wood from Robin but i dont know if theres a maximum you can buy!

Wood: When you unlock the train station, plant tons of trees there. Use your hoe on the dirt then plant the seed, otherwise it'll just say "invalid position" or something. Once you get enough money, just buy the wood. You can make 20-40k per day easily if you know what you're doing, and a stack of 999 wood from Robin costs 10k.

Coal: If you value your time more, you can either buy it from Clint or harvest it by killing dust sprites in the frozen mines. If you value your money more, buy wood from Robin and make charcoal. It's 50g cheaper per coal. 100g from Robin, 150g from Clint... but it also requires 10 or 20 kilns to make it effective.

Considering I just purchased about 10K Wood and 10K stone from her just now... I don't think there's a buy limit.

Or if you've used up all available space (leaving horsey sized pathways, of course, plant trees in locations which allow you to cut them down. These are also a great location for many extra tappers. South of farm, as well as directly south of and on path north of the bus stop.

If you need wood in winter and don't like to buy it, you can also chop trees in the desert. I wouldn't go just for wood, but if you're already there it's good to know about. I'm not sure how often they regrow there, though.
