Why no steam workshop?
I think Stardew Valley should have a Workshop, because it gets kind of hard keeping track of all the mods a person downloads, and if they overwrite another mod, and also I have to keep multiple windows open to add new mods, so I think it would be more efficient to have a workshop, anyone know how that happens?

Stardew isn't ideal for modding at all - texture mods easily overwrite each other, for one, and content mods have to work around a lot of weirdness. Only if SMAPI is integrated into the game, or an actual modding API comes out, will a workshop be a thing.

Or I could be wrong and one comes out tomorrow.

I bet on this.

Yeah, Stardew Valley has no official mod support. I'm not aware if ConcernedApe has said anything about being for or against mods in the game, but since there's no native support all mods are essentially nothing more than code injections. It's not stable, it's not official, and as such Steam isn't willing to take responsibility for what happens when you inject code into the game via one of their services (the workshop).

That's my assumption at least.

Every single game on the planet is released with no intention on being modded. Doesn't mean anything. A game should have mod support should the modding community grow into it. There needs to be a workshop.

Except for the ones that are. Some games are released in an incomplete state, with the idea of "Oh, the modders will fix it."

Workshop is great, but it doesn't benefit those on PS4 or XBOX. Just because the community wants something does not make it viable in-code.

I'm a pretty vanilla gamer, so I've got no feelings on workshop.

Console games never have mods. That's something the console community needs to get over. If they want the most out of a game, switch to PC.

Fallout 4 and skyrim on Xbox one and playstation 4 have mods

It's great that you think that, but there really doesn't need to be a workshop. ConcernedApe is a one person team and the game wasn't built with code that easily lends itself to mods. There's no reason to expect this one person, who's also still working on the game itself, to add mod support.

Workshop is garbage anyway.

Use Nexus or the Stardew Valley mod forums.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure he's all for modding.

You could tweet CA about the workshop idea, same goes for OP.
