No. The pets literally do nothing. Their only use is to give a few points towards an evaluation the game eventually gives you. To get the point(s), pet them everyday and fill their water bowl with your watering can. I think once it says, "(Pet) really loves you!" then you can ignore them forever after that.

The only time anything bad happens to your farm animals is if you leave them trapped outside their coop/barn at night.

You dont have to fill the bowl. Never did that on any file. It doenst influence the hearts, just pet it.

It does I think. You get more hearts a day from watering. Unless the wiki is lying to me.

actually it is true as I tried pet it dailey on one account and it took quite a while to love me. filling water and petting it on a new character and it took no time for it to love me.
