Does buying anything from Joja Mart affect the town at all?
I know that if you get a Joja Mart membership, it changes the town drastically over time. I never plan on getting the membership (at least not during my first play through) because I enjoy completing the Community Center and I don't want to hurt the community in Pelican Town. However, does buying anything from Joja Mart (i.e. seeds, Joja cola, wallpaper etc.) affect the town at all? I don't want to accidentally be helping the enemy, haha.

No, but why should you buy anything from them? Seeds are more expensive, everything is more expensive. Sure you can buy the wallpaper early on but when you buy that catalog from Robin in late game you will be able to pick any wallpaper for free. The only thing that is better with Joja Mart is longer opening hours and always open. Sometimes I think this game got a very, Small Town, f**k big corporations, YEAH!! small corporations and vegetarian bias.

Pierre's is closed on Wed. If I don't plan ahead (and I usually don't) AND I really want need seeds in the ground that day, Joja Mart is the only option.

Anyways, occasionally purchasing from Joja Mart doesn't hurt the town or anything.

If you finish the Community Center, Pierre's stays open on Wednesday, but Jojamart (which is open 6 hours later than Pierre's) is closed forever.

If you take the Joja route, then you get to shop at Joja for the same price as Pierre's. If something costs 100g at Pierre's and 125g at Joja, once you're a Joja member, it now costs 100g at Joja. Plus, Pierre doesn't go out of business. Win-win-win.

@OP No, there's absolutely zero penalty to buying from Joja, but unless you're a member, stuff is a decent bit more expensive. Their main perk is that they're open until 11pm, and open on Wednesday.
