How to get gold star river fish?

I only get gold star fish in sea water, not in river water even though i got highest level fishing skill and iridium rod. Is there any other factor that i miss?

Cast your max distance, and you need a wide enough stretch of river that you land well away from any land.

It has to do with how far away from any shore the bobber lands. There are only certain places in the river where the bobber can land far enough away from shore for you to get gold fish. Other places the river is too narrow to allow for it.

There are also 'prime spots' where you're more likely to get higher quality fish on each map tile.
