Tips on getting misses in fishing?

I know, I know, why would I NOT want fish? Well, I'm going for completion and need 4 green algae and 2 white ones for recipes, but at this point my fishing skill is so high that I'm having trouble not getting hits! Haha. I've removed my bait and tackle and am casting about as close to shore as possible. I also saw on the wiki that "some places have lower rates of fish. These areas have a higher chance to reel in junk[...]" but there aren't any details. Anyone have any tips for making algae easier to find?

The ponds on the farm, the two lakes in the forest and the ones in the mine tend to give more junk in my experience. The sewer might, too. I'm not sure since I haven't fished there much.

You can also get green and white algae from slimes, so you could try that instead.

Just go in the mines and kill some stuff? Slimes drop algae pretty commonly...

Thanks for the tips guys. :D Also slimes only drop white algae, and I need green too.

The green slimes in the upper levels of the mine drop green algae at a rate of about 10%.
