So what I did was installed SMAPI and a couple of mods then my game didnt to work. I then removed the smapi files aswell as the mod files and deleted them. Then tried it again, nothing worked (meaning the game would not start it says 'unknown error' ". Then I tried to uninstal and reinstall nothing worked so can someone help?

[EDIT] I restarted My PC and it still doesnt work AND I re installed XNA too

You don't still have the launch option pointing to the SMAPI exe, do you?

Otherwise you might want to check here -

And see if any of that works for you. I'm thinking you might end up needing to use the Clean Slate Method mentioned in there.

The thing is I tried almost everything on the list including the clean slate method. I'm not a whole big computer person but I did look up my files and found some SMAPI files which I deleted but still nothing worked.

Deinstall + delete every single file (just backup your savefiles) and reinstall it. It must be a broken file.

That's what the Clean Slate method is. It boggles me that this didn't work.

Did you look in both the Steam Stardew Valley folder and the one it makes in AppData\Roaming?

Does the game run if you launch it directly from the StardewValley.exe instead of using Steam to launch it?

Also check your virus scanner. I know people late last year had problems with Stardew Valley kicking up a false positive and that was generating the "unknown error" message.

So, I did literally everything on here and still nothing worked I don't know if i'm doing something wrong (?), but I dont believe so. I forgot all about the roaming checked there deleted it and still the same thing and it makes me so frustrated.

Okay so I figured it out! I didn't check the launch options because it was still set to launch SMAPI. Thank you all for the help much appreciated!
