How do I find out what each person prefers? Is it just trial and error? Christmas is coming up and it said to give Evelyn her favorite gift, but Idk what that is.

If you'd rather not do that you can look around for clues and talk to people to find out the likes and dislikes of other people.

Well, she tends to the gardens a lot, and constantly mentions flowers. (Oh, sweet peas are in bloom now! Don't they smell lovely?)

I'm pretty sure she loves tulips and fairy roses, and for food items, stuffing and chocolate cake.

Most people "like" flowers (except daffodils for whatever reason)
Most women like, and several "love" diamonds

Errr - to clarify, do not give her poppies. For whatever reason, EVERYONE (except Penny, I think?) hates poppy flowers.
