Best possible first day / start?
I want to maximixe my income and plant more seeds on the first day to be more productive later on. Any tips how I get more seeds / money on the first day? Any tips to get the best possible start and what to do the first 1-2 days in order to have a better end-game?

Plant Potatoes, Sell Foraged Items
abenlen Mar 21, 2017 @ 2:27am
On the very first day I recommend taking your starting 500 and buy 5 parsnip seeds, then spend the rest of your cash on potatoes. Picking 15 parsnips will give you a boost in farming to level one, so the extras are in case you have a crow or 4. Plant everything. For the next couple of days forage and sell, and fish for cash. Buy potato seeds, but don't plant them yet. Chop down several trees, save the wood for later, and the sap especially.

On day 5 (maybe 4, my memory is fuzzy) harvest your first load of parnips. Sell them, buy potato seeds, but don't plant them. At night as you sleep you should level up farming. Make quality fertilizer with your sap, put it in tilled soil, then plant all the seeds you have.

The fertiizer will last as long as the soil remains tilled, and will give you better quality crops that sell better. If you have a plant that give mulitiple harvests per season, the fertizer will only work on the first harvest.

On first Spring I usually plant Parsnips only to level up my framing skill. That way I could craft a scarecrow asap, minimizes crop loss on the next season or just a couple of weeks.

Why do I need to buy 5 parsnip seeds? I do get 15 when the game begins.

Because of crows. If they eat some of the 15 parsnips before you can harvest them on day 5, that puts you behind on leveling your farming. The extra parsnips are just to give you a buffer so a few crows won't hold back your level.

The only way to get more money is to sell foraged items, the only way to get more seeds is to sell foraged items to the general store so you have the money now.

There's really nothing you can do until you get the scarecrow though, and you're still limited by your watering can and stamina.

In the longterm, the best thing you can do is mine and farm. Once you get iridium sprinklers it's easy street.

I have two :~) You can scythe weeds for Wild Seeds; and whatever forage you find before Pierre closes, you can sell to him for more cash for seeds.

This is what I do for first half of Spring

1st Day
- Plant 10 free seeds.
- Purchase 1 Cauliflower, 1 Green Bean, and all potatos with remaining money. go back and plant them. When you can harvest, save at leats 1 Cauliflower, 1 Green Bean, 1 Parsnip, and 1 Potato.
- Cut 50 branches to make a box (50 woods).
- Collect 10 clay. Make a silo when you can.
- Cut as many weeds as possible while try to avoid cutting grass. If you are lucky, you will get random seeds. Plant them whenever you find. Using Scythe doesn't consume energy.
- Go out and forage. Eat/save spring onions if necessary and sell rest.
- The goal is to save as much money as possible for the festival at 13th.

2nd Day to 4th Day
- Water plants
- Pick up bamboo poll from Will (Beach)
- Fish till energy runs low. Then forage and cut weeds for free seeds. Sell fishes.
- If you find anything to donate, do so. You may be able to acquire 9 cauliflower seeds later.

5th Day
- If no rain, go to the community center for an event. Later, go inside and read a gold plate. You will get a letter from wizard later.
- I believe a mine will open up around this time. The goal is to reach 100th floor before Summer for stardrop and quality sprinklers. If your luck is good, go to the mine. Otherwise, fish and forage.

6th Day
- Last day to plant potatoes before the festival. After this date, don't plant potatoes. Only purchase parsnips. But, plant free seeds as soon as possible.

8th Day
- Last day to plant parsnips. After this, don't spend money.
- If you have enough materal, make a silo. Once it's completed, start cutting grass.

13th Day
- At this time, you should have one cauliflower, green bean, parsnip and potato. Don't sell them. Water 20 plots.
- Go to the festival and purchase as many strawberries as possible. Best I could do is 122 seeds.
- At 10pm, go to the community center with one cauliflower, green bean, parsnip and potato. Donate them, and you will get 20 Speed-Gro. Go back, use 20 Speed-Gro to watered plots. Plant 20 strawberries and sleep. You will be able to harvest strawberry 3 times, if everything goes right.

14th Day
- Plant remaining strawberry seeds.
- Starting from this day, the normal schedule will be plant/water/mine/fishing/foraging.

16th - 18th Day
- Forage Salmon berry. Instead of selling them, eat them.
- If necessary, make few sprinklers.

I am currently doing money run, and I am uploading my map every so often. If curious, go to upload.farm and look for "Kwan".

You could get a bit canny. Start your game and do a dummy run to find where the forage is and hopefully a dig spot containing an artifact. Reload and collect the forage and if available, the dig spot. Take atrifact to Gunther - if you have one - it is worth an immediate 250 g.

Greet everyone you meet. Occassional the game gives the making friends quest early. ( I have not pinpointed the reason for this, but, think it might be accossiated with greeting a particular NPC.) This is worth another 100g minus the value of the gift. Even a disliked gift works, though I prefer to give Linus a spring onion.

Sell forrage at the store and buy a few parsnips for buffer, I go for 4 rather than 5 if it means I get an extra potato.

Return home. Dump any shells in the consignment bin. Prepare land and plant all seeds. Water.

You should have enough energy left to cut 50 wood. Make a chest and store anything which you will not need immediately. (Clay, stone, wood.) If you have time left, use scythe, which does not use energy, to cut weeds - you may turn up some etra seeds. Plant immediately if you have energy, otherwise save for next morning.

Next day water plants if it isn't raining. Clear access to you Northern farm entrence check the footpath above for forage. Head to beach, collecting any forage en-route, where Willy will give you a fishing rod. Collect any shells and sell at the fishing shop. Buy more potatos, as many as possible. Return home, plant the potatoes then cut trees. You need 300 wood. You will need to complete th 300 wood the next day as energy will stop you getting it all on day 2. Whatever you do, don't let your character get exhausted, it will impact your enrgy the next day.

Day 3, tend your plants. Complete the 300 wood and head to the beach to mend the bridge. Collect all shells on the newly openned beach as well as the main beach then forage and greet for the rest of the day. Consign forage and shells before going to bed.

Day 4 buy and plant one bean starter (to get bean for bundle) and more potatoes. This should result in being able to buy between 80 and 120 strawberry seeds at the egg festival if you want to go that route.

...........................the rest is however you want to play it.

Just made another playthrough and I'm redacting my previous statement. The best thing you can do fish as soon as you can. Grow 1 of each plants for the bundle ignoring the perfect crops and mine/fish your way through spring.

The absolute best you can do is get Neptune's glaive, two diamonds, and a treasure chest (5000g) on Spring day 4. Lucky!
