Easy / cost efficient way early on to get energy back?
I'm early in the first summer, and where I'm at, after I finish watering, I'm down to about half, or less of my energy. If i go into the mines afterwards, its difficult to progress, because I run out of energy very quickly.

Any tips or ideas? I must be missing something. Thanks!!!

Go into the sauna by the train tracks.

craft food, grow food, or forage for treats to eat and regain your engery. fishing also works. just go fish for a whole day, and get a ton of fish to eat when you're in the mine

Plant less crops.

If you have no sprinklers and the crappiest watering can, don't plant more than 40 crops.

Spend the day fishing to earn money for the horse, which will let you find forage food faster and get to the sauna faster. You can also eat the fish, obviously.

Grow hops - they regrow daily (take 13 days to grow) and the no-star hops give 45 energy, with gold-star giving 68 or something.

EDIT: Did you not harvest salmonberries in Spring, or spring onions? I'm in Winter of year 1 and still have like 70 salmonberries left. Haven't even touched the blackberries from Fall...

I don't think you are missing anything. The first year is tough because of your limited energy. I usually push gardening hard so most days I don't have enough energy to do much of anything after watering unless I head to the bathhouse. I save mining for rainy days and really concentrate on the mines in winter. Later on in the game you'll find improvements to energy which will allow you to either plant even more or plant the same size garden and have plenty energy to do other things. Oh, and you'll probably have sprinklers by then so watering will be done automatically for you.
