Multiple items from Travelling Cart

I visited the travelling cart and was overjoyed to find a rabbits foot for sale. I bought that and then noticed there was also an iridium bar. It was expensive at 5000 gold but I was in Spring of my first year so it would be a very long time before I could make my own, so I bought it - and another one appeared. I thought what the hell and clicked on buy again - and a third iridium bar showed up! This time I didn't have the cash, but how many bars would there have been available? I didn't even realize you could get multiple items from the travelling cart.

It is random, though I bought up to 5 of one item off her before, sometimes it may only be one -shrugs-
