Planting fruit trees.
Ok, so i got some cherry fruit trees on the cheap from the cart lady. The thing is i don't know where to plant them. More specifically i don't know if i should plant em outside or wait till i get the greenhouse and plant them there, and if i am going to plant them outside where exactly do i plant them on the map. I am playing on a forest farm btw.

Fruit trees need the 8 spaces directly around it to grow properly, so just make a small clearing somewhere. Other then that anywhere is fine really.

yes. provided nothing is near them to stop them. I stuck one up by my house cuz I needed the apples.

not that good income. they pay you back in about 40 fruits...but you only get 28 fruits a month.

so you don't get your investment back for 2 years. I did put 17 trees in the greenhouse.

useful for bundles. possibly useful if you take a specific farming map. but still best bet is still probably ancient fruit in the greenhouse.
To be fair, they make good gifts (everyone likes fruit) and you can put 'em into kegs and jars to increase their value. I'd put them in the greenhouse, myself, though... unless you want them for decoration. Apple trees and cherry trees are nice.

I plant on growing 2 from each one. Gonna use GreenHouse for the Ancient Fruit only. Afterall, from the Ancient fruit you can make the best wine, or am i wrong?

Trees can be planted outside the planter box in the greenhouse, thus making the planter box still exclusively ancient seed. This is the best placement for trees, since they will produce fruit every day of the year. Planted outside, it will take two years (without preserves or kegs) to become profitable, as mentioned before.

From the placement, i assume that the decorative stuff in the greenhouse don't prevent the trees from growing.

Stuff that is already built into the environment doesn't seem to in my experience block trees from growing. I have planted regular trees directly against the house, or directly against the bushes/fence to the right of the house and they grow. Placed items or generated items will block it though. I havent tried the same wwith fruit trees outside, but that is because as already said its best to put them outside the planter in the greenhouse.

you can plant them on the outer edge of the inside of your greenhouse so they will continue to grow and then produce fruit year round. You can get about 16 trees in your greenhouse without using any of the soil for crops. So I would honestly recommend doing that. :)

Just keep in mind, if you place the two sprinklers on the far left those trees near 1 space away wont gain 1 quality per year like the others.
Edit: scratch that, the sprinklers on the left would hinder the growth during the first month if in place. Seems it won't effect it gaining quality over the years.

They removed a few of those barrels and potted plants in 1.1, I guess. You can plant the fruit trees along the wall now, not 1 space away.

As I've mentioned previously, that is NOT the optimal layout. Because the sprinklers WILL prevent the tree fruit from gaining quality year-to-year. If you just push the trees fully against the wall (wall won't hinder growth), then that is the optimal layout.

Honestly, I wouldn't plant anything other than ancient fruits in your green house :P, It really pays off, trust me, but on the fruit trees I chose the riverland farm so, I put them on the patch of land at the enterance to where Marnie's ranch is. Sorry if this is long. :steambored:

You know the post you're replying to is nearly 9 months dead, right?
Exactly my thought.

btw you can't plant fruit trees outside of the tillable area in the greenhouse now.

preeeeetty sure you can, unless it's bugged, since the developer intentionally re-added this feature in the last update
