Lightning Rods, Farming, and the Railroad/Spa
So I have a question about the area up near the Railroad. It appears that it is plantable. I'm still in my first playthrough, Year 2, but I am wondering if I set up a Lightning Rod array up there, would they attract lightning?

Also, has anyone ever tried putting farm-type stuff up there?

Just checked it - Lightning Rods won't produce Battery Packs outside of your farm, so I assume other objects (like Beehouses) won't work either.

Okay, but still....Trees and crops would theoretically work in the spa area, right? Just get Iridium Sprinklers.

You probably wouldn't be able to get the auto-harvest since you wouldn't be able to place the hut outside the farm, but it could be a good place to plant an orchard.

Beehouses produce outside of the farm. Also, you can't place trees outside of your farm now I believe. I tried doing so in my 3rd year or so and I couldn't plant trees.

I planted 200 trees outside my farm. to get my year 3 kegs in.

That'll help quite a lot then. I need more trees. I only have 2 maple and pines. I have about 5 oak trees.

Sorta irrelevant to the OP, but beehives work anywhere outdoors. You can plant them in front of the bus if you want, but not in the tunnel the bus drives down, since it's considered indoors.

You can't plant stuff off-farm except for normal trees and grass.
