couples discussion
I'm curious, do you guys think the canon couples would work in actuality?

Sebastian and Abigail: Sebastian hates living in the Valley, but Abigail seems to like it. Sebastian seems to resent his family, whereas Abigail only squabbles with her dad for the most part. Abby is a bit more outdoorsy, whereas Seb prefers to stay indoors. Abigail wants to explore the mines and practices her swordsmanship, but Seb when married only warns you to be careful and bring good gear. I think they'd be a bad couple, and should stay friends.

Alex and Haley: Alex has a big talk and Haley likes that. Deep down, he's an anxious guy. Haley's pretty superficial, but once she relaxes she doesn't mind getting down and dirty. I think their relationship could go either way: Either Haley would push him to leave Pelican Town to go pro, or he'd be unable to go pro and Alex would be destroyed that he let Haley down. Either way, Haley gets to move to the big city and Alex follows his dream, or they stay in town and admire each other's good looks. I think they'd be a good couple, considering they're pretty shallow characters.

Harvey and Maru: Again, this could go two ways. Either they'd continue working in the clinic together as a family business, or they'd quickly tire of each other. I know I wouldn't want to work with AND go home with someone. I think couples need time apart. I also don't think Harvey would mesh well with Demetrius. I've also never seen Maru imply she likes Harvey romantically. I don't think they'd be a good couple.

Elliot and Leah: Leah's pretty free spirited and Elliot seems kinda... stuffy? I think they'd be better as friends helping each other for inspiration.

Sam and Penny: I never understood this couple. The rest follow a theme: the goths, the preps, the nerds, the artists. Sam is childish and Penny is very responsible. Regardless, I think it works. Penny doesn't have a great relationship with her mom and her dad's gone, and Sam has a full family for her to join. Plus, Vincent loves both of them.

Shane and Emily: I think they'd work really well, based on one of Clint's cutscenes. Emily's one of the few people Shane's actually very friendly to. Emily seems like a good balance to his grouchiness. Living together might be problematic; Shane isn't very neat, and Emily was fighting with Haley about cleaning. Emily seems to eat healthy and Shane does not.

Penny and Alex would work better. Penny enjoys reading and teaching whereas Alex is no good at it. Both have gone through hard times and would be able to relate. She'd be able to help his insecurities as well, as Penny is quite the positive one.

Alex enjoys working out and being sporty, so you can imagine him doing the main work, Penny prefers being a housewife kind of type, so they go hand in hand in that too.
