Lava Eel

Y'know when you get to level 100 in the mines and there's a lava lake there? And if you fish from that lake you can catch a lava eel? Every time I try and catch it, I spend the entire day catching garbage, and the fish only bites once or twice. I went on a very lucky day, ate a lucky lunch, have fully leveled up my fishing skill, have the best rod, had tons of good bait, and I was fishing literally the entire day. I caught fifty pieces of garbage. Does anybody else have this problem, or does my game just really hate me?

Trash is, indeed, super common in that lake - just keep trying, the lava eel is probably harder to catch than the legendaries due to the massive amount of trash you have to catch along the way.

Bait your rod. maybe even wild bait your rod. put a trap lure on it, and eat a +3 Fishing food. (you get one at fishing 3 for 2 sardines and 1 hashbrowns which lasts half a game day. and you get some for befriending willy that last longer)

this is for catching all difficult fish. I see the screen shot. you didn't eat your +3 fishing food.

I can't tell if you baited your rod from the image but I imagine you did not.

You missed a fish. If you are going for difficult fish really consider noming down some +Fishing food. it makes fishing easier at least at fishing 10 having +3 fishing pushing to 13 makes fish that I swear would be impossible .... 90% catch rate. at least.

Yeah, I'm really good at fishing, and the day before was also a super lucky day, and I ate all my +3 fishing food. I was just frustrated with how much trash is in that lake, and how I spent two solid days down there and the fish only bit three times, and all my bait and good lures were wasted on broken glasses. Ironically, this morning I went back down to try and get the fish, it was an unlucky day, and I didn't eat any special food, and the fish bit within three throws and I caught it.

Kek, I spent 4 days straight trying to catch it, After reading your advice red I went down fully geared I got the eel first cast, I'll try and attatch a screenshot.

I actually did not have that much trouble finding it. The first day I went I did catch a lot of trash but maybe only 20. I then got a bite from the lava eel but it got away. My second try I found roughly the same amount of trash and then I did get a bite and also a treasure. In the treasure was a dino egg. I had bait, the cork bobber thing and also I think I consumed the fish recepie

Yeah, I ended up catching it about 10 minutes after making this post complaining about all the trash. It makes no sense that there's so much trash in a lake made of lava

I am currently doing an experiment and to get a total of 10 lava eels I fished 25 "Driftwood", 35 "Joja Cola", "23 Broken CD", 30 "Trash", 35 "Soggy Newspaper" and 34 Broken Glasses. So 182 Trash Items for 10 Lava Eel. So I'd guess on a bigger sample size it would aproach 1 Eel in 20 casts.
Worst of all: Out of those 10 Eels I only managed to get 7 so you got a pretty decent chance of not catching them. As a result it may be worth it to use Trap Bobbers.
This was only performed on maximum Luck days while having level 10 fishing so you probably can't improve your chances that much. I may increase the sample size in the future but this is quite tedious and takes a while so for now I guess I will stop.
