Not happy with this company.
"Multiplayer co-op is still in development… progress has been made but it’s going to be a while yet."

So the selling point of this game, what many of us supported you for. Is going to take this long?

Are you for real now? You got all this console stuff going on, and hire this team, but you can't put top people on getting a decent co op feature going?

There is a mod for this if you want to try it. Also for many indie companies anything with multiplayer (especially online) requires a completely different set of skills. They would most likely need to hire somebody to help with this, show them the progress etc etc it can take a long time. This is why lots of indie titles don't have multiplayer.

It might not be to you, but many harvest moon type games out. This one key point was the co op that gave it hype by many players.

Also I understand about the mod, but when this game was in development he was going to have mutiplayer that is balance around the systems in place. The mod is a nice short cut, but not what was being sold.

What was being sold, was what was sold. You don't buy promises.

Supporting a company is now consider a bad thing. Giving indie company a boost in hopes to get what they promise is bad now? Good to know.

It was never a selling point, we buy it because we love Harvest Moon like games.
Sure we know at some point multiplayer would be add to the game....
BTW multiplayer harvest moon like, what your choice out there?

Co-op wasn't even on my mind when I bought it. When I saw it out for console, I got it. I've always loved games like this. Sure it's a nice feature if there or coming to the game but I don't get a game solely because it's co-op.

As far as I remember the co-op/multiplayer stuff was always spoken about as a feature coming later on. No set date no "a month later", just later. And that wasn't even talked about at the very beginning.

So yeah, don't speak for everyone please, it just makes you look silly.

Yeah, I think most people bought this game to support a badass indie developer who has already produced a WAY better product than Harvest Moon. Not because there was vague mention that they want to include multiplayer at an unspecified time.

I've played every installment of the Harvest Moon, and Rune Factory games, and a few other spin offs. Stardew Valley is far and away the best. Not a lot of room to complain if they take their time adding to the game.

I remember back when games came out, and then they just stayed the same forever. There was no chance they would ever get updated or improved, or worked on at all. They just printed them to some form of media, sold them, and you played what you played. I for one am thankful to get to watch this game become more and more of a masterpiece over time.

Chucklefish has experience with working multiplayer titles. I wouldn't worry too much about the time they take to implement it. They know what is necessary to make it function well and the time needed to make it so.
Marsh Feb 7, 2017 @ 10:52am
Firstly, "This Company" is wrong up until fairly recently. Ape has been busy with literally everything else. Coding multiplayer is hard work, so it was handed off to Chucklefish. If they need time to work it in, then give them time. Starbound multiplayer works great, so just let them do their thing.

Although, they're launching a physical release of Stardew Valley, and they'll probably want multiplayer working by then, so I'd expect it soon.

The majority of people, myself included, supported this project because it was simply a vastly superior product to the alternatives in the market, including the awful modern Harvest Moon titles.

Multiplayer is cool and I hope it comes soon because I want to play it with my friends but I find it pretty dishonest and honestly a little delusional to say that this game sold on the promise of multiplayer co-op.

...Because it really didn't.

Multiplayer was never the primary selling point of the game, at least to me it wasn't. I bought the game and supported the devs because I liked how simple and loving can a farming game be.

Also, I am sure most of the people didn't buy the game for playing multiplayer. I bought this game when it was in beta and I am quite happy with what it delivered. Multiplayer would be a nice addition but the game is good enough and better than it's alternatives as it is.

You might have supported the game for multiplayer, but think before including a phrase like "many of us...", because I think the majority of the community won't agree with you on this.

i have Stardew Valley since more or less the beginning!
It was NEVER a promised feature....... Ape is doing this for US because it got that hyped fast but that was not because of a Multiplayer promise... but because it reminds us of Harvest Moon.
I played it on Play Station 1.. the first fat PS1. It was my first console and one of my first games and i played it for hundrets of hours over decates... i was born in 1990 and i grew up with this game and the PSP game...

THIS is why its hyped and sold so much.. not because of promised features.. the fans are happy mostly with offline and mods (which you NEVER had with harvest moon)

Nevermind that multiplayer IS coming in a future update. Saying "But I want it NOW" is not a solid basis for argument.
