You should give him a complete breakfast,a prismatic shard, or a rabbits foot.

At first I wanted to give him a complete breakfast, but then I thought: "Breakfast for Christmas, at 18:00?". It doesn't really make sense.

Alex is neutral towards common mushrooms. That would not be a good gift. He loves complete breakfast, and salmon dinner. He also loves all universal loves (prismatic shards and rabbit's food). Those would be the best gifts to give him.

He likes all universal likes plus all eggs. So an egg would be a good gift, as would anything on the universal likes list.

In one game I married him. I used to give him eggs, green beans, bok choy, sweet peas, and I think hot pepper jelly, all of which he liked. And the occasional complete breakfast, which he loved. I've never had him for the Winter Star festival.

Quartz is an awful option. It's very hit and miss for a lot of the villagers, and it's a huge miss for Alex. If you have a kitchen, stack up on Sashimi and Coffee. Both are almost universally liked by the townspeople (a few exceptions), and you can use them yourself while you're adventuring in the mines or foraging around the map.

If you don't have a kitchen, then try any of these:
Sweet Pea/Crocus
Topaz/Aquamarine/Amethyst/Ruby
Any vegetable, such as a Pumpkin.
Wine/Jelly/Pickles/Juice

False.

True. Feel free to educate yourself any time.

I've been pumping Alex full of Common Mushrooms for an entire season, he likes them. [/quote]

What does he say? If he just says "thanks" then he's neutral. He only likes them if he says "this is cool. thanks." I was just going by the wiki. I've never wasted a common mushroom on Alex since there are so many other things he likes and the wiki contradicts you.

Yeah if they weren't rare as hell. Who in their right mind wastes them as gifts?

The meals aren't rare.

I would never give a prismatic shard as a gift myself, but it is something he (and most villagers) love so it's worth mentioning. I wasn't making a suggestion, I was just stating options. As for rabbit's feet, I had a bunch of them after 4 years, mostly due to an animal mod which is supposed to deal with the current bugs regarding animal happiness. Without the mod a rabbit's foot is really rare, but once you complete the CC there's nothing much else to do with them.

Super hard to get for a new player though.

Complete breakfast requires you to have chickens and cows, and the Salmon Dinner requires niche crops that not many players grow, and a specific fish.
