1.2 Crash Fixes and Issues
I see a lot of people having trouble with loading a game - I'll try to compile all of the discovered fixes here.

If you know of any fixes to new issues, be sure to post them here.

Game crashes upon load
Try setting the game to windowed using the button in the upper right hand corner of the main menu, then loading the save. It should force it to fullscreen once loaded.

Crashing upon save? It's likely a monster quest

If you know how to edit your save, do this. If not... well, not much else you can do. The issue here stems from the adventurer's guild quest and possibly monster quests too not saving properly, you must complete it that day or the save will break upon saving.

Unpinned because all the 1.2 relevant issues have been fixed, or at least as far as I can tell.

Here's the problem I'm having:

I just upgraded my farmhouse to add the nursery/kids' room and the extra room in back. Since then, every few days the game crashes after I go to bed, but before it saves, so I lose the day's progress.

Because it's not happening after every day, I'm wondering if the game is "rolling" for the "ask if I want to have a baby" question, and it's coming up, but causing the game to crash?

The only quest I have is Qi's Challenge. (No monster quests or guild stuff.)

Here's the error log I found, if this helps:

I uninstalled the game and then reinstalled it and it still refuses to freaking load. What else can I try to get it to load?

Try to downgrade it.

I have that fullscreen issue too. When I start the game I only see a small part of the screen. With alt+enter I have to switch to window to load a game. then in the options I can switch to fullscreen. It always resets all resolution options and zoom options I changed before. And if I leave to title the game crashes and an error message shows up... something like "Microsoft .net framework Unhandled exception has occured in your application" (tried to translate it from german... hope thats correct) The screen flickers and I have to close the game with the task manager... Please help me

I too have the same problem of the game starting with a small screen. It doesn't start fullscreen anymore. I do use the alt+enter trick and it works. But why is this happening? Also, now all of a sudden when my character goes to bed at night the game crashes right before it saves. I am stuck doing the same day over again. What's going on?

I was finally able to launch my game! I hit alt+enter so I could see the upper right corner for the window control. I set it to the small window size and it launched! (It just crashed again when i tried at maximum witndow size.) I hope this gets fixed, everything worked great untilt the update.

I got my game to load, ironically by placing it inside Avast's Sandbox Mode.

Runs correctly in sandbox mode.

Oh i forgot to mention something, i had disabled gaming mode in avast because it was giving me too many issues with my games, i guess avast is yet again interfering.

My game crashes when I try to load a game.

I've tried windowed mode and I've tried deleting files (%appdata%-deleting file and editind the "_old" out) Still won't work and also tried windowed with this aswell. Nothing.

Does anyone have any suggestions. If it helps, I'm not using any mods. Just plain vanilla.

Tille try disabling gaming mode if you have avast. Or add the stardew.exe in the whitelist on your antivirus (if it's SMAPI, then that executable as well).

Haven't played the game since the last update and looks like I will have to wait till the next update till I will be able to play it again...Don't even wanna try it out if it works when I try to start the game after reading all these comments here...I will just sit here patiently till they fix that last update...funny or actually sad thing is that I never had any issues before the recent update and I'm in year 13 or 14 or some like that and have like 700 hours of in game time.
Come on, Mr. ConcernedApe...You can and want to do better than that...Get to work please so all your little farmers can go back to work again...Make Stardew Valley great again! ;)

Just got my Mom and Boyfreind to instal and play the game but I had to tell them to wait because of the early game crashes.

Bad post. Why dont you open it instead of worrying for "maybe" nothing? Same for 8muses above.
