The only requirement to completing is 1 bar of each: copper, gold and silver. I know its easy to craft a furnace but it really bugs me that youd be rewarded with a furnace after needing to craft one to complete the bundle. So is finding 1 of each bar type not feasible? Im on floor 45 of the mine.
Also staircases are 99 stone each; essential for getting through the Skull Mines.
Smelting starts to become a time-consuming process when you begin to work with more valuable metals, and when it comes to making the best use of your time, you'll appreciate the thought of interrupting your schedule to return to your furnaces if there's 2 or more smelted bars to come back to.
Also, there's this logic behind trying to complete the bundle as well:
Aside from the preposterously implied notion that stone is like some super difficult resource to acquire, I agree with their statement; compared to the full reward you get when you complete all of the bundles in a room, the small prizes are just simply a nice add-on to completing the bundles. If you find that the small bundle prize isn't all that worth it, then rather looking at it for the unappealing prize that it's offering, look at it as getting one step closer to that full-room prize.
