Missing Tree Tapper FYI

While I don't know if wood nymphs, locals, or some vast anti-sap group have been stealing my tree tappers (on and off of my farm) I thought I would share this precious nugget of information with you.

If a tapper goes missing you cannot install another tapper, nor can you cut down the tree. You can, however, set detonate a bomb within range of the tree (I assume it destroys the invisible and non-functioning tapper) allowing you to install a new tapper, or to chop the tree down.

Just a friendly public assistance announcement.

This definitely sounds like a bug. Never had this problem in 500 hours of gameplay. Are you using any mods?

I assume it's a bug, 100 or so hours, year five, zero mods. Keeping this game clean. I only had about 12 tappers, all but four on farm property.

Hmm. Could it be lightning? I'm not sure if that would zap the trapper off your tree, or do that AND make the tree fall down. I know lightning has like a 1-5% chance to bypass lightning rods... That's all I can think of.

If it happens off your farm, definitely a bug, which you should report. :P

I had tapper disapear when I harvest the sap, I just assumed they sometimes broke down. I was able to re-tap the tree with no problems.
