Report a translation problem
It's range based. If you click in one of the 8 adjacent tiles to your farmer they act in that direction. If you click further away then they default to acting in the direction your farmer is facing. This enables "strafing" which is useful for watering and tilling and swinging the opposite direction you're moving in combat.
I think this is the smartest way to do it even though I often forget where my cursor is and make a mistake because of it. I'm playing with a steam controller if that explains anything.
Should have mentioned I use the keys for actions rather than the clicking because of the delay I often encounter in movement and clicking. I do use the mouse when watering but other than that the functionality isn't there because I can't use keys and the mouse simultaneously, so keys are used for fighting.
It might just be how it is :s

Ah thank you, I'll try to keep cursor distance in mind! I do have the keys mapped already but they still follow the cursor. I'll play around and try find a way :)
