Locally:
Save your map, then go back to the main menu.
Hit Run server, a new window should pop up depending on which version you're on.
If it didn't pop up, alt-tab out of the client and look for the black window which looks like a command prompt. Find the small window which should look like this:
+-------------------------+
| rcon password: 'GZ8a4V' | < your code will look different
+-------------------------+
write down or copy the password and tab back into your ddnet client. Hit play and go to the LAN tab. Refresh the server list if your server doesn't show up. If it still doesn't show up
then type: localhost: into the server address down below and hit enter. It should connect you to your server automatically.
Now, hit f2 and type in the rcon password which you copied to clipboard/written down.
You should now be logged in as admin with full access to all server commands.
To change to your newly created map you'll need to use: change_map mapname then hit enter. Your map should load up, ready to be tested.
Trashmaps:
If this doesn't work out for you, then I'd advice you to use our Trashmap servers which tamikro provides. Visit https://trashmap.ddnet.tw/ or http://zaf.ddnet.tw/ if you're from south africa. The interface is pretty straight foward, you create a server, upload your map and then run it. You can find your server in the Internet tab.
some minor things:
On a local server you can edit your map while being on the server, by pressing ctrl+shift+e
Everytime you change something on your map you can simply reload the server with every new change you save [You can quicksave via ctrl+s]. Just log into rcon using the password and type in the f2 console: reload then hit enter.
