Invincible mutants

Enhanced edition. Is there a bug in the game making it impossible to get past mutants in the Port on the way to see Krest?

Do none of them actually die regardless of how many rounds or molotovs you use?

When I try to enter the building near the crane where Krest lives I am attacked by a mutant who pushes my weapon aside and beats me. I have no opportunity to use a weapon or melee attack. I am beaten to the ground and presumably die because I am then asked whether I want to restart or log out etc. I've tried many times, get killed each time with no way to proceed forward in the game

So you're in some kind of quick time event? Are you using any kinda of programs that alter your game like cheat engine or a trainer?

Thanks for your reply. Not using a trainer and have not used cheats. I have watched some Youtube walkthroughs and none of them show this problem. The walkthroughs show the player being attacked by a mutant as soon as they go through the doorway to the building near the crane and being beaten by the mutant but they don't die. After hitting for a while the mutant steps back and the player then shoots the mutant. The bug which is stopping me from playing the game is when I am knocked to the ground by the mutant a menu comes up asking if I want to quick load, exit the game and such. If no one knows how to rectify this bug then I guess I must delete the game, there is no way to continue.

You can reload from chapter select menu if you think the AI is stuck.

I've already restarted that chapter but the same things happens. I am not feeling confident of finding a solution and the whole game was reinstalled recently so it should be fully up to date. Anyway, thanks for your suggestion. I'll try again ...........
