What happened to Metro series?

Exodus seems to sell a buckload to when it comes to Steam.

Well you see there is a war in Ukraine and the developers 4A Games are from Ukraine, so things are a bit complicated

They might did I don't know for sure
But again there was some drama with them being sold to Saber Interactive which is a russian studio
The latest rumors I heard about future metro game is that it is fully playable but it's strange that we didn't receive more information from the devs like trailers or screenshots

Metro Awakening is a vr title coming out this year developed by Vertigo Games. 4A has confirmed that they are still working on the 4th installment in the main series, and there are rumors that they even have a playable alpha build.

There actually IS a new Metro game coming soon. Metro Awakening.... is what it's called. It looks awesome, it's arriving this year, and I can't wait to play it personally...

It's not a new main metro game
It's a spinning off developed by another studio and it's a VR game

2) Its not a main game of the series
3) Its developed not by 4A Games but another studio

To make things even more complicated, Dmitry Glukhovsky, the author of the Metro novels, is wanted by the police in Russia and has been sentenced to prison in absentia because he condemned the war against Ukraine and supported Alexei Navalny:

"On 7 June 2022, Glukhovsky revealed he was placed on the Russian federal wanted list; he wrote on his Telegram channel that he was accused of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces due to a post he made on Instagram. After a Moscow district court ordered Glukhovsky's arrest in absentia, he faces up to 10 or 15 years in prison. The arrest in absentia was issued on 13 May. Fortunately, he lives in exile, but I think he has to be careful and fear poisoning.

As far as I have understood, 4A Games is sold to Saber but the Metro rights stay at Embracer Group. I guess we won't be seeing any more Metro from 4A.
