Is it just me or does the Shambler suck in this game?
Like, for one thing its reload speed is absolutely atrocious until you get the magazine mod (which takes out have the stuff that made it unique and fun to use in the first place), but also it's just kind of, bad at killing things? In the last games it felt like a pretty standard shotgun. Strong up close, bad far away, normal stuff. But in this game you can be right up against one of those fuglies and they'll survive your shot, even two! Compare to the Ashot, which yeah is no sniper rifle, but can hit enemies with a fair bit of range and above all feels consistent. The Ashot feels like like the Combat Shotgun from the original Doom games, where it's a reliable weapon that's better up close but effective from a fair distance, while the Shambler feels like the Combat Shotgun in the modern Doom games, where it can't even consistently take out imps up close and kind of just exists to make the Super Shotgun look better and also maybe as a grenade launcher.

Also while I'm here why is the Bastard Gun even in this game? In the others it made sense because you'd typically get it before unlocking better automatic rifles, but in this game you start straight off with a Kalesh. Also, it takes the much scarcer pistol rounds now, while still doing low damage per shot and having a really high fire rate... it only exists to chew through your ammo and make getting the Professional achievement more trouble, why?

The Shambler works better with the barrel extension but is still slow to reload and will jamb occasionally, Ashot is better overall. And the Bastard is just that, a waste of time.

I began to like Bastard gun after I collected best attaches for it and figured out it's soul purpose. Just put on a drum mag, long barrel, green laser, heavy stock and you'll get the best Nosalis killer. Just shoot 1-2 bullets aiming at their heads from your hip.

I kinda agree but it can shell out fast enough. I typically use the double/quad barrel for up close mutants.

The range is the main issue, you needthe extension or duckbill otherwise you gotta get right up next to the enemy (so it's not good for humans with guns).
