Absurd lag (Macos)

just got the game on a deal playing it is great but sometimes lag is extremely impeding to gameplay. I noticed when i tabbed out of the game like to my desktop and then back the game kinda does like a little refresh, and is super smooth, this is at any resolution btw. I have all graphics and motion blur and resolution as low as possible and still lags, and when i have the resolution up to max or at or near my macbooks native (1792 x 1120) it lags, but tabbing out then in gives a temporary smooth gameplay like really smooth, fps jumps up to 50 then gradually goes back down to 15-20 fps within 30 seconds. Is there a fix for this or is this just the punishment for trying to play on mac lol.

I'm running the game on an M1 macbook pro and having those issues too. I found that after downloading the original release of the game from the steamDB that seemed to help up the fps a little. You can also go into the user.cfg file and change some parameters manually, then locking the file so that it can only be read and not edited, but I am still not having a whole lot of success there. I'm actively trying to find ways to get the fps to be closer to 60, but right now it's stuck at around 30fps. I know it can run smooth though, some how. In the game when I look straight up at the sky, my fps jumps to 60 and it's super smooth. I don't know a whole lot about the techy details of what that would mean, I just know with all the settings at the lowest they can go it is playable but just stuck at 30fps.

I'm also curious about the resolution settings. I've seen posts and videos of people playing this game on their m1 macbook air at 1600x900 but the lowest my game allows me to set the resolution at is 1920x1200. If I could figure out how to set the resolution lower, perhaps this is what would help get the game up to 60fps
