I think the gameplay got better with every game. The feedback, soundeffects, animation etc. felt better with every new game in the franchise.
just to keep it short i think it was because of exodus "open world" felt a bit empty for me most of the type specially the desert section.
even tho the story was better in exodus i found last light more enjoyable for my taste (maybe it is just nostalgia for me but idk i really cant pinpoint what made me like last light more)
The only time Exodus felt like an actual metro game was the beginning, yamantau, and the end (except the fish part hate those things)
i find the gameplay XP in Taiga & Yamatau are more enjoyable then Volga & caspian, but somehow still lacking the great moments or taste of Metro style or sense of danger ........
Agree 100% with Sexy... Exodus is the "super-commercialization" of Metro; make it as palatable to the current variant of Adventure/Shooter Gamer on every continent on every platform, to increase profit and reach. Capitalism sucks, but so does, you know, paying rent and buying food.
I mean we know what they've been through since the GSC/STALKER days, I don't begrudge 4A a single thing! It's just the way of things...
Witcher 1 was very fun, and Witcher 2 the best one by far, most challenging on highest difficulty and I freakin' loved the chained attacking requiring actual dexterity and practice to do it, especially against multiple opponents... cast block dive light chain chain x2 dive again, cast cast dodge.... your hands would HURT after a long session. That's the mark of a true game! (heh, or carpal tunnel syndrome, I forget.) There was a nerdcred there too, because unless you had Polish friends, you never watched, read, or even heard of Wiedzmin / Hexer).
Witcher 3 was essentially CDPR's equivalent of Exodus. I hated W3 as much as I hated Exodus when both first got played... but as time goes by, you just learn to accept that this is the way things go, in gaming, in life, in the passage of time... in everything.
There's no stopping progressive incremental improvements, just like somewhere about the 3rd release in a series come massive changes that "ruin" canonical stories, the overall lore and continued character arcs... retcons will ultimately follow, because they have to. It's just the way it is.
I really miss the supernatural Metro stuff, I also MISS THE METRO; stations/tunnels, being, you know, a Metro game, just saying. The Reich being your evil human antagonists you can murder with abandon, etc.
I'm OK with my hate/love/hate of Exodus. You should try to be, too. Because honestly, what good is being irritated over something you can't control and didn't create?
Too bad it isn't even about the Metro LOL.
I think the perfect would be something like Exodus, but actually in the Metro.
OP was mentioning the GAMEPLAY - and the GAMEPLAY got better with every game. The games felt more realistic with every new game. Better soundeffects, feedback, animations and so on.
Every game has its pros and cons - I'm currently playing Exodus and so far I love them all.
