Night vision always needs to be turned off.
After the game crashes, dont restart your pc!! Press ctrl+alt+del and open the task-manager. If the task-manager doesnt appear, try to get it on your screen with Windows key+arrow keys. Then close Metro Exodus in the task-manager.
After that, start the game over steam in save mode on. Dont change any graphics settings, its unnecessary. Load your previous save and kill the last 2 guys. Then do it exactly like in this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pbpg7v_haUY&ab_channel=DoctA
Then the game should crash again. Close the game again and start it NOT in save mode!! The game should have applied the poor graphics settings onto the normal game.
So make sure you have the poor graphics settings from launching in save mode into not launching in save mode. After that, kill again the last 2 guys and do it again exactly like in this video.
That was the solution for me, I was able to walk past the boat and save the game.
Good luck!
