SHADING RATE
Why won't it let me go past 1.0x?

I play on Extreme @3840x2160 on 1.0x with excellent frames, but I want to try out 1440p with increased shading rate for testing purposes and quality comparison.

Why are the multipliers past 1.0x grayed out?

Stop using DLSS and you can manually change the shading rate. Not sure if you can go above 1.0 with 4k.

Tried already. Went down to 1440p with DLSS off. Shading rate won't toggle past 1.0x :metrogasmask:
I can change the shading rate with DSSL off but it won't stick. As soon as i press enter it reverts to 1.0.

Same here. Can't get it to stick.

Same here. I can set it to 1.2 max when on 1080p the rest is greyed out and won't stick. As soon as I up my resolution to 2k or 4k, the only setting I can choose is 1.0.

I read somewhere that when you have the settings on extreme, it autimatically is set to 2.0, but I can't see that, neither in the options, nor in the config file...

You could try manually set it to your desired shading rate in the config file. Maybe you have to set it to read only after that, so that it will stick.

Didn't try that yet, but might do so after work ;)

It worked, good tip! :metrobullet:

Testing dif. rates now at 1440p and comparing its performance against 4k. :radiationsymbol:

please help, I have new PC -> i7 8700K, 32GB RAM, 960 Evo M.2, Asus Strix RTX 2080Ti OC, Win build 1809, current Nvidia drivers. Shading rate is under 1920x1080 grayed out past 1.0x??? DLSS is under 1920x1080 automatically off (supported for 1440p+). My friend has similar setup, but i7 8700, and RTX2080 and he can set it under 1920x1080 to max 4.0??? I cant find online no information, what is/can causing this issue. I know that you can set it manually in config, but it should work through graphic setup without problem, at least with this card, or??? Thx in advance.
So weird I can change it. Playing on 1080p

Thx for reply, I am really mad about it.. What am I doing wrong? I reinstalled game 2-3x (+Windows too), but without change.

Change in compatibility tab (exe file) without chage too.
What I found:
When I lower my resolution to f.e. 800x600, then I can change it to 4.0x
is it so: 800x600 (max 4.0x)..... 1680x1050 (max 1.1x)..... 1920x1080 (max 1.0x).
That means that it depends on resolution 800x600 -> 1920x1080 = 4.0x -> 1.0x
That is pretty strange...
Any suggestions??? Thx.

The available shading rate is determined by how many shaders your GPU has, not the resolution

That is what I am pointing out.

OK, I understand, but that is then pretty strange. I have Asus Strix RTX 2080 Ti OC, which has 4352 shaders. It has to work then, right? But it doesnt go above 1.0x under 1920x1080 and it doesnt matter which graphic settings I set, but when I change the resolution to lower, then I can increase the shading rate. Thats what I am talking about. How the resolution decreases, then the possible shading rate increases.

Did you contact the official tech support? I can turn the shader rate up to 2.4x with an RTX 2070 at 1440p. Not entirely sure how it works (or the upper/lower bounds).

Also, the OP said he could do it manually in the config, so try that.
