Turn boats/boat controls?? Help?

I'm at the part where you're nearing the church on the boat after you leave the Aurora for the first time, however I actually can't seem to get the boat to turn? Is there a control I'm missing? A and D make the oars tread water but the boat doesn't seem to turn, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Forward and turn but it is clunky. Maybe try a gamepad just for boating part.

No tank turn, look where you want to go press forward. Sucks for tight spots have to forward and back lots.

I asked the 4A forums and apparently I experienced a very rare glitch where the game engine didn't recognize the A and D keys a verifiable commands when on the boat, simply exiting out and starting it again has fixed the bug in every case so far.

Happened to me on the Taiga level where you have to weave through those stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ docks. I couldn't turn. Getting in/out didn't help, had to reload a save after pain staking amounts of stealth non-lethal take downs. I wasted a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hour to restart. And if restarting doesn't fix this i'm going to lose it

It worked before no probs with wasd... now in the sewer in death city novosibirsk, that freak ♥♥♥♥ control left right wont work.

What are these controls? Name the water for going more.
