How do you craft out on the field?

I'm sure this is explained on lower difficulties but on Ranger Hardcore it is never explained. Thank you!

Beware that you can only craft certain things on the field. For instance you can make tihar ammo on the field but revolver, shotgun or kalash ammo only on the work bench.

You also can't fix your gasmask in the field, which is kinda dumb from a gameplay perspective.

You also can't clean your guns or repair armor. I get the idea. "Special repairs" and more "complicated ammo" have to be crafted in the workbench. Simple ammo like the Tihar you can do in the field.
