Hopefully this helps.
Actually makes sense. I didn't notice till after i killed all the cultists. Perhaps a stealthy approach would've let you get in there. May still be a way to get in though. Going to keep exploring, i'm in no rush to complete this game, and i love the STALKER vibe it gives off
Nope, the cultists barricade themselves inside that room no matter what you do. I played through that church a few times while figuring stuff out. The first time, I went straight into that room without even knowing what it was--after leaving Katya's room, wiggling through the passage to the church roof, you take the stairs on your left down and it's the door directly across from you on the first landing--and the people inside actually pushed me right back out while explaining that they weren't interested in my bull**** and please to be ****ing off now, don't come back.
Cleared the church with no kills after, and the doors stayed shut and locked, with just crying and wailing from inside.
Oh ok, I actually didn't even know about that room lol. I just got the lady and her girl and scrammed asap.
If you've not been detected you can enter some of the rooms for some short events. Didn't seem quest-related though.
The only time I've been able to get near that door is after leaving Katya's tower prison, by which point the folks inside are already in no mood to entertain any guests, especially not tech-using Satanists
