Crying children and women in church
Hello,

As the title says, there are some people in the church crying behind a locked door. How to save them? Is this a side quest?

Actually makes sense. I didn't notice till after i killed all the cultists. Perhaps a stealthy approach would've let you get in there. May still be a way to get in though. Going to keep exploring, i'm in no rush to complete this game, and i love the STALKER vibe it gives off

Nope, the cultists barricade themselves inside that room no matter what you do. I played through that church a few times while figuring stuff out. The first time, I went straight into that room without even knowing what it was--after leaving Katya's room, wiggling through the passage to the church roof, you take the stairs on your left down and it's the door directly across from you on the first landing--and the people inside actually pushed me right back out while explaining that they weren't interested in my bull**** and please to be ****ing off now, don't come back.

Cleared the church with no kills after, and the doors stayed shut and locked, with just crying and wailing from inside.

Did you figure it out yet? I'm at the same part and i'd like to know how to open it as well.

Nope, I'm at terminal already, but that keeps bothering me. I've left them behind :steamsad:

I rowed my boat to the church, rowed all the way to the back of it, I docked the boat, the preacher began saying how they caught the heretic and the little girl began telling me to come up stairs. That it is safe up there. So, I followed the stairs (the only way to proceed). Got to the top, opened the door. Enemies show up, I go out the window, sneak off site and meet the lady and her daughter at the train...

Hopefully this helps.

Thank you for the answer but I'm not referring to the little girl and the lady from the top of the church. In the church, on the 1st or 2nd floor there is a room locked and you can hear people crying from inside.

Looks like it may be side quest related. i'm exploring and i got a side quest from Miller. May be related, or simply just exploring the map to find a key to open it. I noticed next to the church theres a big strip of land you can see and theres some houses. May be there. Exploring every little nook and cranny should reveal a way to get in that room.

Oh ok, I actually didn't even know about that room lol. I just got the lady and her girl and scrammed asap.
As someone already pointed out, if they're crying it's because you've attacked the cultist and they're scared of you. You can't "save" them at that point.

If you've not been detected you can enter some of the rooms for some short events. Didn't seem quest-related though.

Was there actually anything worthwhile in that room? like a postcard, diary, crafting stuff etc.

The only time I've been able to get near that door is after leaving Katya's tower prison, by which point the folks inside are already in no mood to entertain any guests, especially not tech-using Satanists :lunar2019smilingpig:. So I don't know myself if there's anything nifty in there. Maybe someone else does, though.

I'm sure someone does. Would be good to know so when i do a 2nd playthrough on ranger hardcore full dive i'll know its worthwhile to get in there if theres good stuff in there

If you are doing the 2nd playthrough from new game + patch note you can look for the key in the whole church but it's not there. You can also come to the WOODEN door , puill of your AK47, say "suka blyat" quietly and empty your magazine into it. As a result you used a magazine for nothing BUT they start screaming and the women get's injured. You still can't open it but at least you messed a bit with the cultists. :steamhappy:
